The Wactivist
I associate myself much more with Gen X than I ever will with Gen Y. To even suggest that my 13 year-old brother, who knows nothing of life before Columbine, 9/11, and the Internet, is having a similar childhood to the one I had is absurd.

So angsty, so misinformed.

Gen Y is an old term that is largely being disregarded in favor of Millenial since their relation to GenX is largely irrelavant to their generational makeup.  So why use their name as inspiration.

Like with any generations there is some debate over the years - but basically you are a Millenial if you are under 30 and were born before 2000.

BTW it isn’t an uncommon GenX trait to bitch about being characterized in a particular community or group.  This is the huge distinction with Millenials who are more collectivst.  So if you are bitching about any sort of generalization about your generation - way to go, you just proved you are more like X.

And yeah, there is a huge difference betwen Millenials and our older bros and sisters. There will be some blurring at the edges, but I am 31 and feel way more connected to the Millenials and their outlook than X.

Get over it.

east village idiot: Gen Y can bite me

Point taken, but wouldn’t your 13 year old brother be considered a Millenial?

TRUTH! Aren’t GEN Yers that lost generation born in 1977-1980. They went to college before facebook and had their first jobs during 9/11. Like, the ‘REAL WORLD’ was the only reality TV show. So they had no real cultural events to shape them? They’re like the polio kids who never got to go outside because, you know (THE POLIO).
